THE WAG SHOP GROOMING POLICIES

Appointments are booked based on breed and type of service.  Your first visit, expect to leave your dog for a minimum of 2 hours.  We work one on one with your dog and your first visit is very important to us.  We like to get to know your dog so we can build a relationship with him or her.  We work as a team at the Wag Shop. What does this mean? This means that your dog is usually assigned to the same groomer but on occasion your dog may be groomed by some else. We have a shop standard that is used on each dog so, you will always receive the same quality service.

If you have time constraints, please let us know ahead of time. We are a start to finish salon, servicing one dog at a time, so being on time is very important to us.  If you are going to be late please give us a call 303.282.1894.

Babysitting Fee: ($10 for 2 or more hours)
We are a tiny shop with very little space for a lot of dogs at one time. This is why we book our appointments one at a time but we also need the space to be able to provide the cage free service that we do. So, we ask that you try to pick your dog up as quickly as you can once your dog has been groomed.

No Show Fee:
There is a $15 charge for missed appointments/ no show and if you cancel without giving us enough notice to fill the appointment.  We all have busy schedules and we understand that sometimes our lives get away from us.  If we are able to fill your appointment, we will dismiss the charge.

Prices:
This costs more than having my hair done! What are our prices based on?  I’m glad you asked!  All prices are based on THAT BREED, OF AVERAGE SIZE, IN GOOD CONDITION. This is the toughest part of the grooming business. If we could get this part of the grooming down to a science, I think all groomers would be ecstatic. We have a general price list for each breed which you are always welcome to see. If you have any questions regarding your price, we are always happy to discuss it.

Dog grooming is an art.  We do not get the same luxuries of your hairdresser for absolute stillness and pointing our heads in one direction.  We are basically working with sharp equipment on a moving target.

Base price includes:
A bath, brush out (approx.15min), nail trim, ear cleaning, and breed specific haircut (if applicable). For dogs not requiring a full hair cut they do receive paw and furnishing trimming.  We use a high velocity dryer for blowing out your dog.  This is a great tool for any breed but especially effective in removing undercoat on double coated breeds and a great tool to help the dematting process on other breeds.

Additional Services/ Fees:
Services that require additional time/ work to the normal grooming process.

Difficult Dog $5 - $15 (See Special Needs/ Dogs Deemed Difficult)

Overgrown /Packed Undercoat - Minimum charge of $10 -$20 depending on the size of the dog. A dog can be considered overgrown if they have not been groomed with-in 8 weeks of their last appointment. Packed undercoat: dogs blowing coat that have not been brushed out. The dead hair is usually packed in certain areas requiring more time to dry or brush.

Anal Gland Expression $10

De Matting $10/15min. (Only if agreed upon by a pet stylist.)

De-Shed Shampoo & Conditioner $5 (sm) $10 (md) $15 (lg)

Flea/Lice Bath $25 ($10 shampoo/$15 flea bomb)
We always try to detect fleas, lice or ticks before we begin the grooming process – Sometimes we don’t - If lice are not discovered until after haircut has begun and the dog requires a second bath; the customer will be charged double for this process. We always call to let you know this, as it also adds additional time to the grooming process and fumigating process to clean the shop afterwards.

Severely Matted Dogs:
If it is going to be painful for the pet, we do not do it.  De-matting certain coats is just cruel.  Occasionally we can set aside time to work on certain hair types but for the most part, prevention is key.  If your pet arrives with matted hair that will take more than a few minutes to safely brush out – you will be charged a minimum of $10 per 15 minutes of brush out time.  Only IF WE HAVE ALREADY AGREED TO BRUSH IT OUT. You are always welcome to come in between grooming for a bath & brush.  Everything is still included, for a lesser amount except for the actual body hair cut/style.

Senior Dogs:
We have a great respect for our senior friends and believe they still deserve the same services. When your pet reaches a certain age, it is better to provide the essentials. I hate to say we don’t aim for perfection, but they have done their time with their fancy clips. We aim to make your dog as comfortable and happy when receiving services at this age. If you have special needs for your senior, they can be discussed when you set your appointment.

Special Needs/Dogs Deemed Difficult:
We are willing to work with a "difficult dog". We find that the way we groom, start to finish, is a positive way to groom these types of dogs. If you let us know that your dog has biting or other nervous issues, we will work as quickly and safely with your dog to ensure a positive experience. We like to think they don’t have time to even get upset about the process. They are in and out of the tub, groomed and on their way home. We are happy to talk to you about how we handle these special cases.

A difficult dog will be charged a handling fee starting at $5.  If the pet is biting and takes more than his/her pet stylist to complete, there could be a possible charge of $15 added to the base rate.
